Home services marketplace Urban Company reported a 44% year-on-year (YoY) increase in operating revenue for the first quarter of FY27. However, the company posted a net loss of Rs 92 crore as it continued to invest heavily in its quick-service housekeeping vertical, InstaHelp.
According to the company’s unaudited financial results sourced from the National Stock Exchange (NSE), revenue from operations increased to Rs 528 crore in Q1 FY27 from Rs 367 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
The India Consumer Services business, excluding InstaHelp, remained the company’s largest revenue contributor, accounting for more than 67% of operating revenue. Revenue from the segment grew 31% YoY to Rs 356 crore during the quarter.
Urban Company’s Native brands business reported a 58% YoY increase in revenue to Rs 95 crore, compared with Rs 60 crore in Q1 FY26. Meanwhile, its international business recorded 81% YoY growth, contributing Rs 65 crore during the quarter.
The company’s quick-service housekeeping business, InstaHelp, generated Rs 11.11 crore in revenue during Q1 FY27. However, the segment posted an EBITDA loss of Rs 131.58 crore, up 11% sequentially from Rs 118.73 crore in Q4 FY26.
Urban Company also earned Rs 38 crore from non-operating sources, taking its total income to Rs 566 crore. On a sequential basis, overall revenue increased 23% from Rs 462 crore reported in the previous quarter.
On the expenditure front, employee benefit expenses rose 53% YoY to Rs 151 crore, while the cost of materials consumed increased 45% to Rs 100 crore.
Higher finance costs, depreciation and amortisation expenses, along with other operating costs, pushed the company’s total expenditure to Rs 640 crore, up from Rs 384 crore in Q1 FY26.
Despite recording robust revenue growth, Urban Company reported a net loss of Rs 92 crore during the quarter, compared with a profit of Rs 7 crore in the same period last year. The decline was primarily driven by continued investments in scaling InstaHelp.
Following the earnings announcement, Urban Company’s shares closed 6% lower at Rs 129.39 at the end of Friday’s trading session, giving the company a market capitalisation of Rs 19,894 crore (approximately $2.1 billion).
