E-commerce marketplace Meesho expects to create more than 10 lakh seasonal job opportunities across its seller and logistics ecosystem as businesses prepare for increased demand during the upcoming festive season.
The projected employment generation includes approximately 6.5 lakh jobs across Meesho’s seller network and about 3.75 lakh roles within its logistics operations. The hiring push is expected to support sellers and logistics partners as they increase capacity ahead of the festive sales period.
“The festive season is an important period for businesses across our ecosystem to scale up and prepare for increased demand. This year, we expect to enable over 10 lakh seasonal job opportunities. Nearly 1.3 lakh sellers are expected to hire seasonal workers across packaging, manufacturing, production, warehousing, and inventory management as they build inventory, launch new products, and expand their festive collections,” Meesho said in a statement on Friday.
Across its seller network, nearly 1.3 lakh sellers are expected to recruit temporary workers for a range of operational functions. These include packaging, manufacturing, production, warehousing, and inventory management, as sellers prepare inventory and introduce new products and festive collections.
The logistics ecosystem is also expected to expand its workforce. Meesho’s own logistics platform, Valmo, along with its third-party logistics (3PL) partners, will increase capacity to handle the anticipated rise in order volumes.
Seasonal roles within logistics will cover delivery, sortation, delivery center operations, and supervisory functions. The hiring is expected to help logistics partners manage increased activity during the festive period.
“The festive season continues to create meaningful economic opportunities across the ecosystem, enabling sellers and logistics partners to grow their businesses while creating jobs across India,” Meesho said.
The announcement comes as major e-commerce companies in India prepare for their annual festive sales. These sales typically contribute a significant share of companies’ yearly sales volumes, making the period particularly important for sellers, fulfillment networks, and logistics operators.
Meesho’s projected employment generation highlights the broader impact of festive e-commerce demand beyond online sales. As sellers increase inventory and expand operations, and logistics companies scale delivery and fulfillment capacity, the seasonal surge creates additional employment opportunities across multiple parts of the ecosystem.
With more than 10 lakh seasonal roles expected across its seller and logistics network, Meesho is preparing its ecosystem for the upcoming festive sales cycle. The planned hiring will support sellers in managing increased demand while helping Valmo and its 3PL partners strengthen their operational capacity across India.
