IHG® Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, has signed a management agreement with Embrassio Hotels & Resorts Private Limited, the hospitality arm of Vrindara Group, to develop Holiday Inn Mathura. The hotel is scheduled to open in early 2030, further strengthening IHG’s expansion strategy across high-potential travel destinations in India and reinforcing its commitment to capitalising on demand-driven hospitality markets.
Holiday Inn, one of the most recognised hotel brands globally, continues to adapt to evolving traveller preferences while responding to strong demand from hotel owners and developers. In India, the brand is witnessing significant momentum across key markets, supported by a robust pipeline of more than 40 Holiday Inn-branded properties and IHG’s broader growth plans in the country.
As one of India’s oldest and most important religious destinations, Mathura attracts millions of visitors annually. Moreover, growing spiritual tourism and increasing demand for premium branded accommodation continue to drive hospitality development in the region. To meet this demand, Holiday Inn Mathura will feature 115 rooms and suites, offering modern comfort and convenience to leisure, business, and religious travellers.
Additionally, the hotel will house three food and beverage outlets, including an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, and a lobby lounge. The property will also provide extensive meeting and event facilities across five venues, including a spacious ballroom. Furthermore, guests will have access to a fitness centre and a swimming pool, enhancing the overall hospitality experience.
Commenting on the signing, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said, “We are delighted to partner with Embrassio Hotels & Resorts Private Limited to introduce Holiday Inn Mathura. The city’s significance as a spiritual destination, combined with rising demand for quality branded accommodation, makes it a compelling market for growth. The signing of Holiday Inn Mathura aligns with our strategy of expanding in high-potential destinations and bringing globally recognised brands to locations where travellers are seeking trusted hospitality experiences.”
Sharing his views on the partnership, Mr. Krishna Kumar Sharma, Managing Director, Vrindara Group, added, “We are pleased to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts to bring Holiday Inn to Mathura. As one of the most recognised and trusted hotel brands in the world, Holiday Inn is well suited to meet the needs of the city’s growing visitor base. We look forward to developing a hotel that combines international standards with the warmth and character of Mathura.”
The signing of Holiday Inn Mathura marks another significant milestone in IHG’s India growth journey. At the same time, the development highlights the company’s strategy of expanding globally trusted hospitality brands into emerging and high-potential destinations while strengthening its presence across key travel and tourism markets.
IHG currently operates 52 hotels across six brands in India, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts®, Crowne Plaza®, voco™ Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort®, and Holiday Inn Express®. Furthermore, the company maintains a strong pipeline of 98 hotels that are expected to open over the next three to five years, underscoring its confidence in India’s rapidly growing hospitality and tourism sector.
As travel demand continues to rise across the country, Holiday Inn Mathura is expected to play an important role in supporting religious tourism, enhancing the local hospitality ecosystem, and offering world-class accommodation experiences to domestic and international travellers alike.
