Embedded Finance startup Fixerra raises Rs 14-Cr in funding

Embedded Finance startup Fixerra has secured Rs 14 crore in funding from investors, including Jaideep Hansraj, managing director of Kotak Securities, Shailesh Haribhakti, chairman of Shailesh Haribhakti & Associates, Oisharya Das, CEO of Kotak Private, and Shivang Desai.

The family office of Harish Shah, managing director of Signet Excipients, also participated in the funding round.

Fixerra revealed a rebranding from Fixed Invest, a fixed deposits marketplace, and is now positioned as a comprehensive banking-as-a-service provider. The company focuses on assisting digital businesses in launching their banking products.

“We are excited to back Fixerra’s vision to bridge a gap between banks and fintechs that helps enable consumers to explore a broader range of superior banking services,” Haribhakti said. 

Fixerra is expanding its banking partnerships and introducing new features to enhance its banking-as-a-service suite. The company expects to help over 200 digital businesses within the next three years.

“We want to become a digital mall for banks. Over the next three years, we are going to focus on building infrastructure for marketplaces across multiple banking products,” said Fixerra founder and CEO Akshar Shah. 

As a member of the five-member portfolio advisory team at Kotak Investment Advisors, Shah played a crucial role in advising investment committees of major family offices in India. Chitkara University‘s, Department of Fashion Design, Chitkara Design School hosted scintillating Fashion Future Forward Conclave over a span of 2 days at its sprawling campus, on Chandigarh – Patiala Highway.

The Fashion Future Forward Conclave offline conclave saw industry experts with reputable fashion brands and Fashion design Studios as well as academics engage with cohorts of students. This allowed the flow of ideas and exchange of dialogue with the current fashion and design students of CDS.

Dialogue on future of sustainability, digital green marketing and online retail, the rise of athleisure wear, Metaverse and global future directions in the fashion industry were raised by the fashion design students. Fashion students discussed topics the way fashion design practises are evolving, the use of biodegradable materials and leveraging lightning speed algorithms to create complex structures and 3D models.

Presiding over the event from the fashion industry were Ashish N Soni, Design Director at Ashish N Soni, Ikos Designs Pvt. Ltd., and Narendra Kumar Creative Director – Amazon. Urvashi Kaur – Founder Urvashi Kaur – A conscious luxury label and Karishma Shahani Khan – Creative Director Ka-Sha, INDIA, Karan Berry- Founder and creative director Mr Berry, Co-founder Karleo couture , Bespoke footwear label AKA. Nitin Kapoor CEO and Co-founder of Iba Crafts and Mahima Prasad -Manager – Ajio Luxe, Reliance brands were noteworthy participants from fashion industry.

Speaking of his interaction with the students, Soni said, “The students were very enthusiastic. They were very keen to know and learn what the industry experience is. The kind of questions posed was very interesting and I think based on that there is a huge potential.

There is always a divide in academia and professional practice. Events like these are really helpful for both the students and us industry experts to have these conversations. Some of the questions that the students had prepared really challenged us to put on our thinking hats. I really enjoyed the conversation,” Narendra Kumar said.

By encouraging interpersonal dialogue at the conclave, the Chitkara University has created a transparent environment for interaction between industry experts and students. This explored the gap between the expectations of the employers and the aspirations of the youth.

Nazara Technologies to acquire Comic Con India via Nodwin Gaming

Gaming firm Nazara Technologies on Wednesday announced the acquisition of Comic Con India via its Nodwin Gaming unit.

“As part of this transaction, Nodwin Gaming will acquire 100% of the shares of Comic Con India at a valuation of Rs 55 crore through a combination of cash and share swap from the founders of Comic Con India – Jatin Varma and Karan Kalra. They will continue and remain to operate the business as part of Nodwin Gaming,” Nazara said in a statement to bourses.

Jatin Varma, founder, Comic Con India, said, “For more than a decade, we have worked tirelessly to build a unique space in India for promoting and celebrating popular culture. And with that goal in our mind, I am very excited to join hands with Nodwin Gaming in taking the next step and building upon this goal together.”

OPPO and Nokia Sign 5G Patent Cross-license Agreement

Leading smart device company OPPO today announced that it has signed a global patent cross-license agreement with Nokia covering standard-essential patents in 5G and other cellular communication technologies. Following the agreement, both parties will resolve all pending litigation in all jurisdictions. The specific terms of the agreement are confidential as per mutual agreement.
