RARE India has expanded its portfolio of experiential hospitality properties across South Asia by adding Kara, an eight-room heritage hotel located in Fort Kochi, Kerala, to its curated collection.
Set within a restored heritage building, Kara occupies a property that has served multiple historical roles over the centuries, including as a Portuguese mint, the Dutch East India Company headquarters, and later a colonial residence. The hotel has been developed by Maneesha Panicker, founder of Kayal Island Retreat.
The boutique property features eight guestrooms spread across heritage and contemporary wings, blending carefully restored architectural elements with modern design.
Guests staying at Kara can participate in a range of curated experiences, including heritage walks, art trails, culinary sessions, wellness activities, and visits to Kayal Island Retreat, offering an immersive introduction to the culture and heritage of Kerala.
